
Bethany Mazurek
Bethany Mazurek has been with the Blue Ridge Autism and Achievement Center since August of 2010 where she is currently the Special Education Director. Bethany resides in Blue Ridge with her daughter, Marley, and her two dogs, Jasper and Penelope. She is a licensed Special Education teacher with endorsements in ED K-12, LD K-12, and Special Education General Curriculum K-12. She has her Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and is a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) licensed to practice in Virginia.
Bethany has always had a heart for individuals with special needs and started working towards turning this passion into a career in high school. She volunteered in a variety of classrooms for students with special needs as well as coached Special Olympics Swimming. Bethany obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas, Austin in Youth and Community Studies with a minor in Special Education and completed her graduate work in Special Education at George Mason University. She completed her BCBA coursework at Florida Institute of Technology and is currently enrolled at Virginia Tech in pursuit of her doctorate degree.
Bethany began her career as a special education teacher in a self-contained classroom for children with Autism in Prince William County. She then transferred to Spotsylvania County to open a public day placement program for students with special needs as the lead teacher. She moved to the Roanoke area in 2010 and has been with BRAAC since.
In her free time, Bethany enjoys running her daughter to her many different sport practices and events, reading, and photography.
