Christy began working at Katie’s Place (KP) on January 14th, 2014. She was hired as the Office Manager but realized very quickly realized that the opportunity to grow with the organization and become much more than that was a possibility and it happened. Christy was hired to work three days-a-week to help Katie’s Place obtain their license from the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and her role continues to grow as she is now a full-time employee.
"It didn’t take long before I knew that I wanted to be more than just the Office Manager. I wanted to get to know each and every one of the participants and work hands on with them. I became a friend to all of the participants. Not only am I their friend but I also guide and lead the participants in our day support program. Even though my title is still the Office Manager, I am also apart of our participants and their families lives. Each Tuesday and Thursday when I arrive at Katie’s Place, I anxiously await each and every one of our participants arrival. I love to see the smile on their faces. I am so grateful that our participants have a day support program to come to. You can tell that all of them thoroughly enjoy coming and the friendships they have made.
KP is vital for our participants, they need the interaction with other adults and a structured program where they can focus on their objectives and achieve goals with the help of volunteers and staff. I know at the end of the day that I had the chance to experience what happiness is to each participant. I have grown to love all the participants and care strongly about each and every one of them. They bring joy and happiness to my life. I hope in the future that KP will be able to operate five days a week to provide full time day support to our participants as well as new individuals. I look forward to watching KP continue to grow and be a successful day support program."Christy Paderick,
